JDRF Hawaii is excited to announce that Grant Carvalho will be playing piano at our Annual Gala.

Grant Carvalho is a senior at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is pursuing two degrees in music (piano performance and music composition) and is currently studying piano performance with Dr. Jonathan Korth. He has also studied music composition with Dr. Takeo Kudo, Dr. Jon Magnussen, Dr. Thomas Osborne, and Dr. Donald Womack.

He has performed the first movement of Gershwin’s Concerto in F with the UH Symphony Orchestra in April 2010 and was recently one of the recipients for the 2012 Morning Music Club Scholarship. Grant also enjoys playing jazz piano, improvising and composing. Some of his compositions he has written at UH include works for solo piano, string quartet, soprano and piano, vocal choir, pierrot ensemble, and others.
