Calling All Volunteers!
Dedicated and active volunteers are the backbone of JDRF.  JDRF was founded in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes. Since then, JDRF has awarded more than $1.4 billion to diabetes research and is the worldwide leader for research to cure type 1 diabetes. It is a volunteer-driven organization that relies on the help of dedicated and active volunteers like you.There are many ways you can make a difference, including:
  • Help out at the main office
  • Work at an event
  • Serve on a committee
  • Become an Advocate in our Government Relations Program
  • Donate Through Your Business
Make a gift of your printing or design services. Contribute your photography skills. Use your public relations firm to help get press for a Chapter event. Donate a company product – or an item for our live and silent auction. To kokua, please send us a message on our Contacts page.

Several of JDRF’s unique programs have come directly from volunteers and been implemented through our unique volunteer-staff partnership. Below are a few examples:

  • Online Diabetes Support Team: JDRF volunteers providing one-to-one support, a sympathetic ear, and practical suggestions to families affected by diabetes
  • Bag of Hope: a chapter-based program of materials for families with a loved one newly diagnosed with diabetes
  • BETA Society: JDRF’s Planned Giving Program
  • Children’s Congress: bi-annually, children with diabetes from every state come to Washington to advocate for a cure for diabetes
  • Coffee Outreach Program: a chapter-based program
  • Federal and local advocacy efforts for additional research funding
  • Public Service Advertising
  • Research program restructuring and review
