JDRF HAWAII ANNOUNCES NEW SLATE FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS 2012-2014
JANUARY 18, 2012 — HONOLULU, HI — Hawaii’s chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is delighted to announce its new slate of Board of Directors for two-year terms 2012 – 2014. The JDRF Hawaii Chapter board will be led by Michael Tam, CEO of Martin & MacArthur, who will take on the role of President of the Board, along with Eric Hannum of Invision Imagery as President-Elect, Emalia Pietsch with Colliers Monroe Friedlander as Secretary and Steven Doi of Bank of Hawaii as Treasurer. Immediate past-President, Lori McCarney with Coldwell Banker remains on the Board as a member of its Executive Committee.
Also joining the JDRF Hawaii Chapter Board are: Hope Cooper-Oliver of Tripler Medical Center, Jeanne Datz Rice with Segway of Hawaii, Ted Davenport of RT Hawaii Restaurants, T. Michael Hogan, Jr., of Bank of Hawaii, William S. Hunt of Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing, Ed Kageyama of Billy Casper Golf Inc., River Kim with the Boys & Girls Club, Victor Kimura of Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts, David Kowalski of St. Francis Healthcare System, Matt Longfellow of ValPak, Chris Mausolf with CAM Home Services, Debra Nishiyama with the State of Hawaii, Roberta Rinker-Ludloff of Design Concepts, Scott Sutton with Walgreens and Michael Yasui of Corporate Environments International. Serving on the newly created Medical Advisory Group of the Board of Directors to JDRF locally is Dr. Richard Arakaki with the UH School of Medicine.
“As a person with Type 1 diabetes myself, I am so proud to be able to have an opportunity to use my personal experiences to help others in need and to steer JDRF’s Hawaii Chapter into new directions,” stated Michael Tam, president of the Board of Directors of JDRF. Tam continued, “With our new slate of Board Members who share JDRF’s vision, I’m confident our goals and objectives for greater awareness and attaining financial levels for research, will contribute greatly to Hawaii’s diabetes community.”
The new JDRF Hawaii Chapter Board will be focusing on several key events that interested parties of Hawaii’s Community may participate in and support. These will include: JDRF Hawaii Chapter Golf Tournament “Fore the Cure” on May 3, 2012; June 9, 2012 gala “An Evening of Hope . . . It Takes a Family” at the Sheraton Waikiki; and the exciting and fun “Walk to Cure Diabetes” event on November 3, 2012.
